Letters

As our communication is limited during our 1930s week, we are going to write letters.

For a £1 donation, we will write you a letter. Donate by online or by text by sending TNTC99 £1 to 70070, If you would like to donate, just click on the JustGiving link on the right hand side of the homepage and follow the instructions.

Remember to then email your address to rachelkdell@gmail.com. During the challenge the emails will still be read, just not by Kat or Rach.

Thanks
Kat and Rach

New Challenges

Sorry we forgot to post about these ones - we have been planning ways to get more sponsors. We are going to be at the Big Summer Declutter on Sunday 29 July, hopefully wearing 1930s clothes and collecting new sponsors.

We have gained £55 in sponsors since the last post and now have new challenges to go with them.

We are washing our laundry by hand for the week, thanks to Rachel's mother.

We are baking a batch of chocolate chip cookies, which were apparently made by accident in 1930

The last challenge from this week is to write a letter and send it to our sponsor.

In addition to the £2 challenge donation, we now have a £1 letter donation. For a £1 donation we will send you a letter. Once you have donated, email your address to rachelkdell@gmail.com (don't worry if it's during the challenge, we will have someone checking daily for new challenges).

Thanks, guys
Kat and Rach

We have a cow!

Radio Suffolk has found us a cow. The cow is called Jane, is apparently very large, and is owned by Colette Strachen of Rendham Hall.

We are going to call her to arrange the date we are going to meet to milk this cow. When we set a date we shall update you all.

Thanks for all the support we have had so far.

BBC Radio Suffolk

We are going to be on Radio Suffolk on Monday, at 10.25 to try to find us a cow. Tune in then to hear about our current challenges, and to help us find a cow to milk.

Milking a cow

Our second challenge is to milk a cow. As far as we know neither of us have milked a cow before, so it will be an interesting experience for both of us. We live near a dairy farm, so we'll talk to the farmer there to see if we are allowed to work with them for a day.

We'll keep you posted.

EDIT: It's a beef farm. I don't think they would want to be milked.

First donation, first challenge and first fundraising event

Yesterday we received our first sponsor. Our friend Matthew sponsored us £5 to both read Brave New World, which was first published in 1932. This does mean we need to find a copy, but we can always visit a library.

Yesterday we were also helping at veterans day at HMS Ganges. We were serving free tea and coffee to the veterans, and people kept asking to give us donations. We put out a cup for people to donate if they wanted, and told them the money would go towards Jessica and EACH, and we collected a total of £24.70.

Thank you to everyone who donated to us so far.

Challenge created

Today The 1930s Challenge was created. This is a new challenge for Kat and Rach and their fourth fundraising challenge, following their 3-legged, 4-legged and Desert Bus challenges.

This will be the location of the diary to accompany this challenge, so keep coming back to see the lead up to the challenge, and the daily challenge diary.

The 1930s challenge will involve Kat and Rach living a week as if they were living in the 1930s. This means no TV, no internet, no phones and no music, unless it's via a radio or vinyl.

And to be in-keeping with our challenge theme, every donation over £2 will allow you to set us a challenge. These need to be suitable for our 1930s theme, but could be filmed by someone externally if needed to confirm the challenge is completed.

Visit our JustGiving page to sponsor us and support East Anglia's Children's Hospices:

We are also fundraising for Jessica Larriva. Currently we have no way of being sponsored for her online, but if you wish to donate money to her then please email rachel at rachelkdell@gmail.com or contact us via Twitter: @eachdesertbus.

Thanks
Kat and Rach
